200,000 50,000 visits! Damn lies and statistics

“Well, this calls for a celebration. *puts on a Kool ‘n’ the Gang record: “Celebrate good times…”* I will.”

200,000 page loads. 50,000 unique visitors. I hate statistics. Since I’ve put this post on hold for over a week now, it’s actually close to 60,000 unique visitors now.

The one I have to thank the most is without a doubt Scott, from Scott’s Anime Almanac. I suck at self-promotion, but luckily, Scott more or less did it for me. Hits didn’t skyrocket until April, about the same time as Scott linked me. He triggered the domino effect, blame him for any possible damages your mind might have sustained from browsing my blog.

What I cannot understand is why any sane person would want to come back to my blog. I don’t, and I never will offer summaries or even anything remotely coherent or insightful. Mainly because I’m lazy. But if anyone asks, it’s because there are plenty of people out there doing it way better than I ever could. English is not my first language, it’s not even my second.

Lastly, I’d like to mention some of my favourite blogs for otaku coverage. 「ネコミミモード」, Akiba-bound Soul and Heisei Democracy all offer excellent news coverage on the latest developments concerning otaku related stuff from that crazy Nippon country in the far east. Do yourself a favor, visit them instead of me.

[…] Though while I’m at it, that site that I just linked too, lolitron, is a fantastic anime blog. I don’t know why it’s not mentioned more, maybe he’s just shy or something. I came across it on a fluke with a web search, and it’s been wowing me ever since. This guy works hard to create a virtual picture book of screen caps with every episode he writes about. I feel that I’ve been practically watching the newest season of Girls Bravo through him. Everyone should check him out.

It’s funny because when I saw your site, I knew it was pretty awesome. And so I asked for us to link each other because I thought you would drive up my own traffic. But after little while it looked to me like I was the only one who was even reading your site! And so I wrote that because I felt that if people saw what you did, they would love it as much as I did. And now it sure looks like that’s the case.

But there’s a damn good reason for that, and that’s because you’re crazy! Look at all the detail you put into these screen caps! I can’t even imagine how long it would take someone to do that. The more time you put into a site, the more people are going to like it and come back waiting for more. So don’t underrate yourself, man, you deserve every single hit you get and more!

Anyway, I’m glad I made such an impact on your site. And when you’ve reached the top, remember all the little people who got you there.

One day i was idling in my favorite IRC channel, and someone pasted a link.
There where a lot of Futakoi Alternative screenshots, and this line:

I’ve been checking in everytime ive had access to a computer since.
