At one cafe, maids get down on their knees to stir the cream and sugar into the customer’s coffee.
At Royal Milk, diners can follow up a meal with a range of grooming services, including ear cleanings.
Maids at some of the more attentive shops even offer to spoon-feed customers at their table.

“The concept of these cafes, where women who are physically and emotionally immature serve male customers, is not surprising given the fetish for young women among Japanese men,” Inukai said.

Hair salons in Akihabara are also cashing in on the trend.
At one such establishment called “Moesham,” stylists dressed as maids give shampoos and cuts to a mainly male clientele not intimidated by the salon’s decor, which resembles the bedroom of a young girl besotted by hearts and lace.
Date Patrol! I need help. Are maid cafes a no-no like life-sized dolls? How will being spotted spoon-fed at a maid cafe affect my chances of getting laid? What about frequently visiting a place that looks like a little girl’s bedroom to get my hair washed or cut, is that bad too?
While waiting for answers, lets continue our journey on the downward spiral of unhealthy behaviour.

Thats crappy, the place looks like an indoor office building. No windows and all white walls complete with office lights and water sprinklers, gah.
Aww, I wanna work in a place like that! Then borrow the maid outfit and serve my adorable otaku boyfriend at home…
Man, maids don’t have to get down on their knees to stir my cream.
Nothing wrong with unhealthy lifestyles~
What the heck is that green stuff in the cup?
haha, that’s cute I want to work at a place like that too
hehe..i wanna work there too…japan here i come!
Given the choice between maid hair salon and hair that resembles a yak’s, I’d say that the latter is more of a no-no. So go nuts! As far as cafes, I’d think you’d get more chicks at Starbucks.
I agree that that’s a lame looking cafe. Let’s start up a chain that’s better!
I would never get laid if I was seen there…
Not that I would get laid anyway…
I wonder how odd it would be considered to be a gaijin in one of those places.
Also, I don’t think that place on the video is an actual cafe. It looks like one of the Idol Singer venues in Akiba.
Maybe it’s in the back room of a cafe, or the maid girls are just working there in those costumes.
if such a store were to be opened in America…it wouldnt even make it pass a month without feminist protesters and molotov cocktails. Its a real eye opener about the difference in societies >_>
Aww, I want to work there! :
Wait, am I date patrol?
Since I’d probably like to work there, your chances of getting laid by me would probably go up some percent if you went there, but in general…It probably doesn’t look good to the rest of the mainstream female population. Sorry, dear. Not as bad as life-sized dolls, though. At least the girls are real.
Burned to the ground, eh? The existence of strip clubs and Hooters suggests otherwise.
A lot of it depends on how you pitch it. Simply having a cafe where the waitresses dress in cute outfits would probably draw more attention for being weird than for being offensive. Certain aspects would need to be played down to get a better reception here… It’d be more about the clothes and less about the l0l1, for instance. Besides, I’m not opposed to boys in maid outfits. But that might scare away the customers.
As for chances of getting laid? Well, we’re not marketting to the ‘getting laid’ crowd, if you catch my drift.
boys in maid outfits o_o aw crap my eyes!
Green stuff in the glass is probably Melonsoda.
I like those Maidcafes/bars.
I visited a few, they range from being a basement with tables to professionally decorated cafes and bars with a nice atmosphere. Also the maids range from beeing just regular waitresses in costumes to women really impersonating the maid-character. I haven’t seen any spoon fed servings but quite often you can get meals that are decorated or finished by the maid at your table.
I will prefer those nicely dressed waitresses over some standard shirt and pants look every day.
Also I saw several women visting those cafes during my visits and the girl with our group liked them very much too.
That these Maidcafes are not only for the very hardcore-otaku shows that new cafes and bars are spreading like mushrooms all over japan.
