Scolding over hug leaves hard feelings:
School officials are defending their decision to have a 5-year-old girl write a note of apology for hugging a classmate on a playground this week
[…]
One girl picked another girl up and hugged her, which was considered roughhousing by a teacher’s aide, Masterson said.
[…]
Brenda Brier, the mother of 5-year-old Savannah Marino, the girl who gave the hug, said officials at Greenwood Elementary School overreacted. Brier said she is upset that officials are trying to make the issue about safety.
”I want them to tell Savannah that it’s OK to hug. That’s all I want,” said Brier.
Love and peace!

People nowadays are too overzealous PCs.

I was always taught in elementry school (since kindergarten) to “look out for number 1″
Obviously a translation error. You know how they spell an F in Japanese, right? It’s awesome to read that 5-years olds can write letters nowadays nonetheless.
I think that aid needs a hug! Come here you lonely aid. ^__^
heard that in australia news too. ridiulous.. so it’s better to kick or slap than hugging.
When I was in kindergarten, and elementary school too, our teachers forced us to huging each other… They said, it helps our mental evolution.

Nothing is wrong with hugging at any age! I have been and always will be a very affectionate person. I am going to hug my children and tell them I love them, and expect them to do the same with each other (minus inevitable sibling rivalry).
k thats just sad it seems like socioty is getting more and more paranoid. i mean come on teachers forceing a five year old to write a letter of opologee for hugging. get real. it seems that teacher has somthing loose in his/her brain.
