Wii-friendly porn site pops up

Remember when parents were freaking out because kids were able to load pornography onto their PSPs via memory stick? The pornography industry goes where the money is, and right now the hot item is Nintendo’s Wii, which just-so-coincidentally launched a web browser just before Christmas. In the meantime, some sites have already started adapting their designs to fit the slightly skewed resolution.

Ars Technica was alerted by a reader that a certain website that is absolutely not safe for work and you’ll have to track down through a mysterious link elsewhere, recently made an alteration to its design when a Wii user approaches. I, um, “confirmed” this information with my own Wii, discovering a link that only appears when accessing via Wii.

Not surprising, but…you know…interesting — has this happened for the PlayStation 3 browser? Guess I better go…find out.

As if having someone walk into the room the room when you are wiggling and waggling with the wiimote wasn’t embarassing enough, imagine your parents walking in while you are playing with your Wii.

I wonder how long time it will take before some mainstream news outlet reports about porn materializing out of thing air on the Wii.

The Wii uses the Opera browser engine, right? If so, pretty much any (well-designed) website, like lolitron.org, should display properly on the Wii.

I have the Opera 3.0 browser on my cell phone and it displays almost every site just fine.

I think it’s an issue of screen resolution or something when it comes to Wii. So it’s probably just fixed to look good in lower res.

Well, one thing you have to remember when looking at TVs, the PAR is different from a computer screen. TVs are actually at a resolution (standard def) of 720×480, but still at a 4:3 size ratio because the pixels are taller then they are wide.

I don’t grasp what needs to be fixed for sites to display on the Wii since it uses Opera the browser should be formatting it properly for the resolution anyway… T.V. resolutions are no different than computer resolutions just most people don’t run computers below the resolution of 800×600 and I think most computer gamers run a minimum of 1600×1200 hence why console games look so grainy to PC gamers… but other then a 1600×1200 picture having to scroll massively or compress to a tiny size to display the entire image I don’t see any need for special links…
