Well, I voted for Suiseiseki though I completely understand why Evangeline would win. I can’t really think of the Rozens as “loli” in the fanservicey sense. But then again I’m not voting based purely on any sense of “fanservice” here. Anyways, Suiseiseki ranking high in a moe tourney or a general “favorite character” poll is expected, but I can totally see how a “loli” poll wouldn’t put her too high.

They’re just dolls after all, and one of the best things about Rozen Maiden is that where WAS NOT fanservice. Doll fanservice is creepy. So I voted for Suiseiseki just because I think she’s an awesome character (and yes I liked her long before there WAS a “desu meme”). They’re both worthy of winning though, because even if I haven’t seen Negima, I know Eva is super loli.

Ruins ever poll as you say there Anon. I like Suiseiseki as well, though I don’t like a page and a half of the same word over and over any time the character is even mentioned. Like I said people from 4chan don’t have an identity or an opinion of their oww. It’s all about how the quantity of memes you can squeeze into a topic, not the discussion itself. It’s why I took one look at the site when linked to it for information and have never been their since. It’s a legimately solid contest between two good characters made pointless by the fact that Suiseiseki happened to say desu and Evangeline doesn’t have a meme. I would have liked to see a legitimate battle as I like both characters equally with a slight tip towards Evangeline as I have read far more Negima than I have seen Rozen Maiden. Both are fairly mischevious while not really downright evil (although Eva is psychotic). It really has been ruined by vote bots and people using proxies to vote more than once though so it hasn’t been legitimate even though its close. Still the posts after the spamming stopped were some of the most intelligent I have seen on a message board, discussing the characters and lamenting the failed character battle. There’s really not much more to say. I’m glad the spamming sort of stopped though.

The polling script you’re running saves everything to a MySQL DB, some geeky person could probably write an SQL statement that could filter out obvious duplicates. You could also dump the raw data publically and let people pick over it (though you would want to omit the last digits of the IP addresses for privacy). I’ve used that data to generate a graph of votes over time, but I’m almost certain there’s some data missing. I dumped that file straight back into MySQL and ran the following:

SELECT count(1),pollip_aid FROM wp_pollsip GROUP BY pollip_aid; 828 162 792 163

Which doesn’t match up to the data showed in the poll results (and actually puts Suiseiseki ahead). The poll shows 1683 total votes reported but there’s only 1620 in that file. Any ideas?

Oh well, whatever. Here’s the graph for the results in that file. The time scale is stretched out over highly concentrated periods of voting. Big gaps are suspicious, it means that during that time people were voting only for the other contestant - looks to have happenened on both sides. You can pick out multile votes by adding the IP’s to a program such as excel or another spread sheet program and it will find all the repeat IP’s. Proxys are easy to find out, you can place them in a simple IP-host resolver and work out all the proxys from the list.

Seriously a propper, secure vote Suiseiseki would win hands down. 4/b/ and 7/b/ have moar man power than any other borad.

Actually, I wouldn’t be surprised if there were just as many people who hate /b/ and just voted for Eva to get rid of Suiseiseki.

Besides, I think wp-polls can already be set up to only allow one vote per ip, and while you could find open proxies, what are you going to do about the people who have dynamic ips or actually have access to more than one ip?

It’s really hard to make something static, aside from only letting registered members vote, and then you have the issue of people making multiple accounts, so I don’t know how to stop it…

If it stays like it is now, it’s just going to piss off the /b/team. If it was legit and Suiseiseki lost, they’d probably quiet down about it, but since there was such a large amount of cheating on both sides, this pretty much only created a bitter Desu. I fully expect the Suigintou battle to be the EXACT same, just replacing desu with junk.

Btw, wasn’t it established that if all the guranteed proxied votes were taken out, Suiseiseki won? So the /b/tards outmanned the rest of us in the end, that’s a bummer.

Anyways.. yeh I liked Suiseiseki, and still do, but then I’m anti-desu, JUST to go against desu-tards. I mean..if the page is suddenly filled with DESU, and one will ahve to scroll a few pages worth of text just to read something other than desu.. it’ll probably piss someone off.

If there was a rematch, there’s nothing stopping the proxy votes from being spammed yet again.

Honestly, abq is probably making the best call by just disqualifying both. There was plenty of cheating on both ends, so they should both be removed. It sucks for both the true fans of Suiseiseki and the true fans of Evangeline, but if someone wins as it is there will be bitching on either side.

Grammar has nothing to with it. Ending every sentence wiht desu in Japanese is roughly the same as starting every sentence with “It is” in English. It’s a typical moe catchphrase, no different than Ayu’s uguu. It’s just been spammed enough to induce mild burns on unprotected bystanders.
