Nice decision abq. Let's hope for the best for the rest of the battle, less the 4chan hoard.

A dynamic IP could be a problem if someone with the same hostname as you abuses it. But neither you nor your hostname are on the ban list. The only things that are blocked are tor exit nodes and proxy servers that send proxy-ish information.

Bah... i am having trouble voting since the Suiseiseki round cause i keep getting "403 Forbidden error" and i ain't on a proxy but would a dynamic IP be an issue?

All i can view is the battle roster. (this is a random time i have been able to get in to vote)

Whoever wins, for me, Suiseseki is the real absolute winner. Unfair? Perhaps. I can understand the reasons for her removal, but all that 'unfair' voting just proves how successful she is. Voting because of simply 'desu' is legitimate enough for me.

port scanning is something the could have happened externally, doesn't need to be part of the voting system at all (hence the suggestion of just using it for a recount). you have the ip addresses, you could just plug them into something like nmap and if one of the ports listed above is open (ie, accepting connections), you can bet that the server is an anonymous proxy.

doesn't matter at all now though, because anonymous proxies come and go quite quickly, and scanning them now wouldn't reveal anything useful.

It's your competition, and you can disqualify whatever entrant you like for whatever reason you like. The competition's credibility will only suffer if the reason is weak (but let's be honest, this really is only for fun).

Lacking an infrastructure capable of dealing with ballot-stuffing, Suiseiseki deserved to be disqualified for the abuse that took place. Suigintou didn't, so I'm glad she's been put back in the compeition. She might still be disqualified ex post facto, but at least then the reason behind disqualification might be legitimate.

>>what other solutions do you have?

It's far too late now (although I did mention it in the vote thread), but it's possible to do a quick port scan on the most common proxy ports (3128, 8080, 1080, 80) of each IP address that voted - could be automated with nmap and would weed out the majority of proxies. It doesn't stop proxy voting, but it would have made a recount possible.

Anyway, with Suigintou's reinclusion you've handled this more gracefully than I initially thought, so well done.

Things appear to be going well so far, and the other rounds since the debacle have been perfectly fine. I love Suiseiseki (but hate the memetards) so while it pains me to see her go, I fully understand and accept it.

I think we're doing pretty good for now so the less noise we make about it the better. Thanks, abq, for what has been in large part a very fun tourney.
