Nanoha Vs. Shana is certainly one tough battle. This is the first vote that pains me to choose. They are equal in many aspects, both being gar-moe magical lolis and such. Tsunderes with katanas and talking amulets are cool but Raging Heart is cooler. To break this tie it ultimately comes down to loliliciousness in which Nanoha beats Shana hands down. (Ahh, the good old days when MTG was good.) I have a feeling Shana won’t mind losing this one though. She’s already insecure enough about her chest as it is.

Back on topic, I think this battle is a very tough one. But, in the end, Noizi Itou’s wonderful artwork make me vote Shana (don’t blame me, I actually looked for Nanoha pics in Noizi Itou’s doujins to help me make up my mind, but sadly couldn’t find any).
I think Nanoha is bound to get some votes because of the Nanoha vs Fate final, but Shana is a tough contender. I think it could really go either way.

I love Nanoha, as a series A’s is among my favourite series ever, but damn this is a hard choice.
I’m not entirely sure I can vote, on the one hand the garmoe goddess, the white devil, Nanoha. On the other side one of the cutest tsundere lolis ever, the katana weilding, melon-pan eating flame haze.

This isn’t a perma-loli contest. That would disqualify a large part of the field and mostly leave vampires and androids. Maybe a few others, Does Shana age? I don’t think that was ever answered in the anime. Maybe Yuki too, she still kinda looks middle school, which would have began 3 years ago when she was created.
Anyway, back on topic. A quick rundown of the whole bracket gives about 17 perma-lolis including the Rozen dolls, give or take my knowledge of anime I haven’t seen. That’s actually more than I expected but it still cuts the field by 3/4. A little restrictive you think?

I agree with the fact Hazuki is actually more interesting loli than Nanoha. But Nanoha had enough support materials to get this far. Saying she doesn’t deserve it is… blasphemy! Even if I personally slightly prefer Hazuki and Shana than Nanoha.

In short, no, I can’t. Shana’s OK, & I don’t mind her, but I’m mainly voting for her because I find Nanoha to be far less worthy. As a result of this outlook, the bulk of my commentary is on why Nanoha sucks. Most of the Shana voters, OTOH, either don’t mention Nanoha or say something along the lines of “Sorry Nanoha, but I like Shana more.”

I cast my vote for Nanoha: I’ve enjoyed the anime series; and this is probably the last time she’ll be eligible for this kind of competition because her next anime appearance will be as an adult. So basically, this is the swan song of our loli “white devil”. I thought she would have been pitted agaist the the little sister and Fate against Shana, but this is okay too, just not what I expected. To the person who’s image scans came out stripey, I can offer 3 possible reasons: The scanning surface (the glass your picture passes over when being scanned) may need cleaning; your ink nozzels may be clogged (if your scanner’s an inkjet); or it might be something inherent in the picture you’re trying to scan. I’ve also had that stripey defect pop up in pictures I’ve tried to print and the cause for me was usually one of the three I’ve just mentioned. So you should clean all sufaces that the picture comes in contact with while scanning, and run the test or alinement patterns on your scanner/printer to get the ink flowing smoothly out the nozzles.
I dreaded this battle since the beginning. Desu’s no more, so I don’t really have to fear. Now, choosing beetween two characters I started liking (Unlike two characters I love, but been defeated because of the overused “she’s not loli” argument) seems a bit(?) more difficult than most heavy decisions people take in their lives

Yes, MSLN is pretty, but SnS is no slouch in that department either. But if you want to judge things on “this one looks prettier and has rock’em sock’em nonstop action!” then let’s just say your judging criteria are different than mine. I am more interested in characters and plot than visual fireworks, and Shana/SnS wins in that department, hard.

It angers me to no end, when someone insults such a great title! Yes, I may have seemed overly presumptuous, but you really do need to re-watch Nanoha a’s, or something. I’m not sure what made you come to such a dissapointing conclusion, but what you said is anything but what MSLN really is.

Dispite what some might think, this contest is not just a contest of lolis, but also a series vs. series battle. I’m sure that a good many votes made in this tournament are based solely or partly as a result of the show’s popularity. If a given participant has seen the show of one girl, but not the other, then they will most likely vote for the character that they are more familiar with.
Additionally, the policy of using only fan art for confirmational avatars often ends up skewing the results as pople also base their vote on which loli has the best picture.
I don’t think this is quite the burning train wreck yet, but a final that is composed of only one series’ characters will end up becoming the most nightmareish anticlimax (and I’m sure that a really good climax from all these lolis is exactly what we all want.)

Nanoha gets my vote anyway, but even moreso because of the people voting against her out of fear the contest will have MSLN final.
I didn’t like either animes, but all I have to say is Shana is fucking annoying and not even cute, unlike Nanoha.

Such as that scene where Nanoha shouts at Vita for mispronouncing/forgetting her name. There are also a lot of other inconsistencies in the art/animation throughout the first and second series:
- unnecessary fisheye effect (the one with Fate standing next to a fridge iirc)
- noticeably different art style in one of the Nanoha family dinner scenes
- Nanoha running to the school at night in season 1
- etc

Actually, I like MSLN, and the last thing I want to see is a Fate/Nanoha final. What’s the fun of having two characters from the same series fight it out? Especially two characters who have fought each other before? (in the series, I mean…)
Besides…it makes more sense to let this battle play out as it will, and save all of the fans’ voting power for carrying Fate to an ultimate victory! =D Fate/Nanoha will just split our strength at the crucial moment - determing who the final winner will be. It’s all strategy!
(Okay, so I’m joking on that last part…but seriously, Fate and Nanoha together at the finals won’t be as much fun as either of them versus anyone else. (Still thinking that Fate will take it all, though, even if she’s against Nanoha at the end.))

I wouldn’t even consider the School scene at fault, it looked like beautiful CG affects to me. The other two, I fail to remember, though it has been over a year since ive viewed it.
Anyways, let me point out the many flaws in SnS. As it is simple to insult the few flaws of MSLN, without having someone do the same to SnS.
The artwork is incredibly rushed; the characters appear two (or less) dimensional. And yes, the main character isn’t as engaging as she could be - and borders on annoying at times. For all of its flaws, this series managed to keep a minute amount of enjoyement within me.
Shakugan no Shana starts mercifully on a high note, with an interesting twist on an otherwise cliched storyline. Unfortunately, it is not long before the marionette-like expressions, lack of detailed side characters and lifeless backgrounds begin to permeate the atmosphere with a feeling of laziness on the director’s side, and lack of time on the animators’ - as though each episode was finished late on a Friday evening… and it’s karaoke night.
*Skips a few hundred lines* The ending! Yes, if I had but one word to sum it up, then anticlimactic would do just that. Nothing was resolved, and everything was left open-ended. What’s the point of an interesting premise, when the creators fail to compensate its climax, with its just deserves.
Now, you can blissfully flame MSLN to your hearts content, but regardless, it is superior to SnS. Almost every forum based thread pertaining to SnS will inevitably end up in a flame war of how terrible it actually is. Which is not an internal problem with MSLN.

This is not strictly true. There were a number of characters and shows that I was not familiar with that I ended up watching due to these battles. Some I liked. Others I though were crap.
